Page Two offers a hybrid work-from-home and in-office environment. Our team lives and works primarily in Vancouver and Toronto, and we’re seeking a candidate who lives in (or close to) one of those cities for the purpose of in-person collaboration with colleagues and authors. Our head office is in Vancouver, and we have a co-working membership at a central location in downtown Toronto.
We are seeking a full-time Editorial & Production Coordinator to join our team.
You will play a key role in Page Two’s editorial and production operations, ensuring books move smoothly from manuscript through to publication. As an Editorial & Production Coordinator, you will execute production schedules, coordinate vendors and freelancers, maintain bibliographic records, and provide editorial support across a diverse portfolio of non-fiction projects. You are a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates proactively, and takes pride in keeping complex, multi-stakeholder projects on track.
Scheduling
• Maintaining and updating editorial and production schedules using Smartsheets and other project-management tools, communicating changes to relevant stakeholders
• Monitoring project milestones and following up with authors, freelancers, designers, and vendors regarding upcoming deadlines
• Tracking the status of all active projects and escalating schedule risks to the managing editor as needed
• Production Coordination
• Shepherding projects through proofreading, corrections, final files, ebook conversion, and print and digital production
• Overseeing manuscript tagging, pre-production checks, and coordinating final sign-offs before files are released to vendors or distributors
• Entering and maintaining title metadata, ISBNs, BISAC codes, and other bibliographic data in Biblio and other publishing platforms
• Obtaining quotes from printers and other vendors and coordinating production schedules, reprints, and digital and audiobook production Editorial Assistance
• Copyediting and proofreading cover copy, catalog copy, sales materials, metadata, and other assets to a high standard, in keeping with house style and
Chicago Manual of Style
• Reviewing blueline proofs and ePub files for completeness, formatting accuracy, and production readiness
• Preparing and distributing freelance contracts and assisting the managing editor with scheduling freelance editors
• Providing editorial and administrative support to the publishing director and managing editor as needed.
This position reports to the Publishing Director.
What we’re looking for
Experience required:
• Degree or certificate from a publishing program
• 1 to 2 years of experience in publishing or a related industry
• Strong copyediting and proofreading skills, with a solid working knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style—this is a core requirement of the role
• Ability to edit for conscious, inclusive language and produce copy that is accessible to diverse audiences
• Understanding of Track Changes in Word and stamps and commenting tools in Adobe Acrobat
• Superb attention to detail and the ability to skillfully juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
